I'm wondering how many diesel pusher motorhome owners, do their own maintenance?   I'll need a large oil disposal pan (I see some on casters), and a Fumoto Valve, albeit I'm unsure of the part # or size.   Anyone know if there are any sources that have constant sales in oil?

Any suggestions/advice on doing one's maintenance would be appreciated!

First off, welcome to the site!! Sorry, I am not familiar with class A diesel maintenance, although I am sure it can't be all that much different from your average Diesel pickup. I am all for doing one's own maintenance and very seldom rely on shops for anything other than warranty repairs.  As far as the rest of the rig goes, regular inspection and re-sealing of seals and seams would be number one on our maintenance routine.

These days, often the problem can be in getting rid of used oil.   My motorhome takes 'six' gallons of oil, so your average oil disposal pan, just won't cut it.   Then, getting rid of six gallons of oil is the next step, where I would have to drive for a half hour each way to where we can dispose of it, as our local 'Canadian Tire' locations have decided they don't mind 'selling' oil, as well as charge the environmental fees...but don't want to take your used oil back!    At any rate, with the filters being much larger as well, and their location, I'm hearing it's not near as easy as with my Diesel pickup....then there are the fuel filters, one on the generator and another for the 'air-dry' system.   
Going to your local service centre for big rigs, often the price can be somewhere between $1000.00 and $2000.00 depending on how much service you actually want.   One fellow, who also needed a wheel bearing seal, and a full service, his bill topped $4,000.00 thus where I'll try and do some of the easier services myself, if I have the know-how and tools.  Specialty things, I'll still have to take it in it appears.   Apparently our motorhome's front wheel bearings are always in a bath of oil as well, so that has to be checked and changed now that then too....the list goes on, so I have lots to learn apparently. 

It strikes me that a 5 gallon container could be very awkward.  Maybe you could adapt a hose or pipe to fit on the oil drain and get it to flow into a 5 gallon pail.
